Ottawa is brimming with color during the Tulip Festival and what better time for an outdoor portrait.
While outdoor engagement shoots in Ottawa are mighty cool looking, its nice to have a real studio for those days when its..well..kind of cool, rainy, and downright nasty. Besides, studio shots have a quality
all their own that tends to focus a bit more on the couple and their personalities than the scene.
We shoot a lot of editorial photography for magazines. This one is the 450th and the subject, Francis Moore Lappe is truly a fascinating woman. She is one of the worlds best selling authors and her book Diet for a Small Planet has sold over 3 million copies.
What a great wedding in the country just outside of Ottawa. The bride, a commercial client of our studio had the reception in her own back yard. Yes, thats her Dad`s barn and the potato was one from her garden. Martha Stewart, eat your heart out!
Wedding Dreams, Canada`s National wedding magazine is headquartered right here in Ottawa. I was thrilled and honored to be asked to write an article on choosing a wedding photographer in the digital age and hope it explains some of the mysteries behind the process.
Please download and print the article if you are an upcoming bride…perhaps send it to friends who are about to start the research into what I believe is one of the toughest decisions in wedding planning.

The NAC and the Chateau Laurier…two of Ottawa`s “wedding institutions”. We photographed this wedding with two photogs…a mix of portraits and photojournalism. Both locations are faves for us, since
we love the idea that you can shoot in either rain or shine.
